Ben Kass Kicker, Class of 1972 Selected to four post season teams by local media including All-Bergen County, All-Patterson News, All-Area, All-Ridgewood News. Led team in scoring over the combined three years of play (1969, 1970, 1971). Ten career field goals were a county record five years after career. Was still number two in 1981. Also kicked three JV field goals for a total of 10. Led (or tied) the NNJIL in field goals three straight years. Kicked the first extra point in the history of Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in 1968. Kicked a 30-yard field goal and two extra points in his first high school game ever played. Beat Paramus with field goals in the closing seconds two years in a row, 9-7 and 16-14. Had 10 career tackles, all on kickoffs. I knew the fundamentals of tackling. Set school record with a 38-yard field goal against Hackensack in 1970. Put Fair Lawn in the lead with under two minutes to play 3-0 but eventually lost the game. Set record for kicking a field goal in three consecutive games. Recorded a perfect season junior year. Did not miss a field goal or extra point. Played four years of college football at Baker University a Division II power. Set three school records at Baker University for longest field goal (48 yards), longest kick off average (57.8 yards per kick, or to the two-yard line), and first player ever to lead the team in scoring four years in a row. My high school kickoffs typically landed around the five-yard line.
